One scrap at a time…Rag rugging in 5 steps

One scrap at a time…Rag rugging in 5 steps

Lisa Jane’s rag rugs are made in the traditional method – sometimes referred to as ‘Proddy’ or ‘Proggy’ mats – and wherever possible are made using pre-loved fabrics. This masterclass will include an insight into the history of rag rug making which became popular in the 1880’s. They were made from old sacks and recycled fabric and were an economical option for keeping feet warm and toasty in an era before fitted carpets were the norm.

You will be provided with materials and support to start your own rag rug which is yours to take home and finish. Come along and give it a try…..you don’t have to be ‘crafty’ or artistic to make your rug, it really is just one scrap at a time!

You must also have a show ticket for the day of your masterclass. Our experts are providing these classes at a special rate to support the show.
