‘Make a Frost Proof Porcelain Plant Pot’ with Gwen Bainbridge of Gwen Bainbridge Ceramics, Brougham Hall, Penrith
Antique lace is one of the main ‘tools’ that Gwen uses in her work. She developed an inlay technique using lace to create a variety of plant pots as part of her ‘Lizzie Bet’ range. In this masterclass, you will be shown how to create your plant pot, ‘dress-maker-style’, using pattern pieces, and assembling them before the final addition of colour and embellishments (always the fun bit!). No experience necessary as Gwen will demonstrate and support participants throughout.
Gwen Bainbridge started her business in 2001 when she was teaching ceramics at Cumbria College of Art and Design. She has exhibited both nationally and within Europe, demonstrating to audiences as far away as Munich and up and down the UK. Having done a PGCE and taught from Primary up to Degree level, she has gained a great deal of experience of how people learn. Gwen has seen at first hand the pleasure that can be gained from creating something and enjoying that experience alongside fellow crafters.
