Learn Sashiko with Susan Briscoe: Mini Japanese Boro Bag

Start making your own mini tote bag in the Japanese boro ‘rag patchwork’ appliqué technique, with designer and textile artist Susan Briscoe. Workshop kit includes Japanese cotton foundation fabric, recycled vintage Japanese cotton, rags for the boro appliqué, Sashiko thread and Sashiko needle.  The finished bag can have multiple uses and fits most mini tablet computers. Suitable for beginners and the more advanced.

Susan learned Sashiko in Japan, where she worked as an assistant English teacher on the JET Programme after graduating in Visual Art and Drama from UCW Aberystwyth.  She collects and studies vintage and antique Japanese textiles and other items which inspire her work.  She is the author of over a dozen books on patchwork and quilting, including ‘The Ultimate Sashiko Sourcebook’, ‘Japanese Sashiko Inspirations’, ‘Simple Sashiko’ and ‘Japanese Quilt Blocks to Mix and Match’.
