Cumbria’s biggest ever Messy Church at Rheged

Come along and join the fun as we host Messy Church at Rheged, it’s completely free fun for the whole family. Explore the theme of ‘Finding God’s Love’ through an amazing range of creative activities, plus a celebration suitable for all ages.

Live Music by 11am – Lazonby School, 11:30am – St Michael’s School, Stainton, 1pm – Beaconside School

Woodcraft zone:

Family room – join Allan Paterson from Word on Wood to create your own ‘Marbellous Musical toy’. Free of charge, suitable for ages 7+ with parental supervision, places limited.

Music zone:

Pennine Gallery – come along and groove to the beat! Join a drumming workshop with Andy Kelly of Stix Percussion. Free of charge, suitable for all ages, parental supervision required. Sessions bookable in advance. Contact the box office to secure your place.

Craft zone:

Mountain Hall – come and get creative with a selection of messy activities including Messy bag decorating, Lost sheep magnets, Messy banner decorating, Messy love heart challenge, Messy plant pot making between 11-2.30pm, no advance booking required. All activities free of charge. Suitable for ages 3+ with parental supervision required.

Science & Gaming zone:

Exhibition Hall 1 – get stuck in with some hands on messy fun exploring God’s love through messy experiments such as Cartesian divers, Invisible air pressure, Blind spot, Cleaning pennies, Types of invisible ink & how fast are you, plus a gaming area where you have a chance to play and explore the ‘Guardians of Ancora’ between 11-2.30pm. No advance booking required. Suitable for ages 5+ with parental supervision required.

Edible zone:

Workshop room – join our Messy chefs to decorate biscuits or cupcakes. Free of charge, suitable for ages 3+with parental supervision. Places limited, sessions bookable in advance. Capacity 8. All ages. Parental supervision required. 11am, 11:20am, 11:40am, 12noon, 1pm, 1:20pm, 1:40pm.

Celebration zone:

Lecture theatre – join us as we gather together for a short, interactive Messy Celebration. A great way to celebrate your time at Messy Rheged! Sessions start at 12 noon, 1.30pm and 2.30pm, no advance booking required, free & suitable for all ages. Parental supervision required.

There will also be a Messy Questions session at 2pm. It’s your opportunity, whatever your age, to ask the Archbishop of York any questions.
