11 am | Duration 45 minutes | Talk: ‘A guide to bathroom design’ with Shaun and Kerrie Ellison from Alexander & Sancto
If you are looking to re-design, re-vamp your bathroom, or create a new one, Shaun and Kerrie Ellison will share their knowledge and expertise to help you maximise the space, select the right products, and make your ideas become a reality. Their inspirational newly refurbished showroom in Kendal will open in March.
The talk will include:
– bathroom layout
– bathroom design
– the pros and cons of wet room systems vs shower trays
– water pressure
– sanitary ware: which WC? Which bath?
– types of tiles
– bespoke and how to go the extra mile to achieve individuality
12 pm | Duration 45 minutes | Talk: ‘North West Gardening’ with Janet Queen, Head Gardener at Rose Castle
Janet Queen has gardened in the north-west of Scotland, England and Italy. Her talk is based on experiences in all three locations and, although the general theme is gardening and great garden design, she also touches on cultural and lifestyle aspects of each area. Janet is Head Gardener at Rose Castle, not far from Carlisle in Cumbria, and she also works as a freelance garden writer. For more information visit www.janetqueen.com.
4 pm | Duration 45 minutes | Talk: ‘Designer Headboards’ with Stephen Ball of Stephen Ball Upholstery
Stephen will give the attendees an insight into designing and making their own beautiful headboard. He will talk about the tools and equipment required, the components and where to buy them and the best fabrics to use. He will give a stage by stage demonstration of making a headboard. Stephen became a professional upholsterer after a life changing accident in 1999 until then he was a passionate amateur. Since that time he has worked on all sizes of project from restoring a pair of antique bellows to a refurbishment of Underscar Manor with a two-week deadline for Queen Elizabeth’s visit. His work varies considerably between re-upholstery of contemporary furniture, renovation of antiques, vintage cars, caravans, boats and commercial work, creating and refurbishing furniture for hotels, restaurants, inns and bars. He also designs and makes bespoke furniture. His workshop is based in Cliburn.
