ARCHIVE – MAKE IT! With Minecraft

WEDNESDAY 8 JULY – SUNDAY 6 SEPTEMBER 2015 // CURATED BY ADAM CLARKE, THE UK’S LEADING MINECRAFT ARTIST AND EDUCATOR. We all know a young person who loves Minecraft, a computer game where players learn to construct unlimited fantasy worlds with virtual building blocks. This Summer, Rheged’s Gallery will host a fascinating family exhibition of artworks and activities inspired by the game. It will show how the virtual creativity of Minecraft influences thinking in the real world. You will discover huge paper craft sculpture, textiles, giant model making, Minecraft inspired films, a 3D printer making Minecraft creations, and ‘Raspberry Pi’ mini computers, where you can learn computer programming. Then it’s time to get hands on with craft activities, the graffiti walls and building areas all in the spirit of game. If you want to take a little bit of the Minecraft world home with you, you’ll find a carefully selected range of Minecraft products in the toy shop, along with some surprises in our cafes. All this in Rheged, a unique grass covered building set in a special landscape that looks like it could have been built in Minecraft!
