Dalefoot Composts offer a wide range of locally produced peat free composts using wool and bracken sourced from the Lake District Fells. Made from 100% natural ingredients which release all the must-have nutrients required for healthy plants throughout the growing season, removing the need to add plant food. The hygroscopic qualities of wool also mean the composts retain moisture so plants will need 50% less watering. The range boasts Wool Compost for potting and containers, Wool Compost for Vegetables and Salads, Wool Compost Ericaceous, Wool Compost Double Strength and Wool Compost for Seeds. Lakeland Gold, also made from bracken, helps bust clay.

Wood is either carefully selected from his large stock of local timber or using his small portable sawmill – enabling Daniel to work with clients from standing tree to finished furniture. “My passion is designing and creating functional works of art from beautiful wood. Our aim has been to create a range that combines modern comtemporary living with traditional Fell Ponies in their native habitat of Cumbria and the Lake District. Our beautiful landscape in Cumbria, our ponies and the vibrant colours surrounding us were integral to the designs. Our range is designed in Cumbria. The fine bone china is traditionally made in Stoke on Trent with the majority of giftware sourced in the UK.
Gwen Bainbridge Ceramics
“I design and make my Porcelain hand-built vessels and jewellery in my studio at Brougham Hall. There are many aspects to my designs that are generally inspired by nostalgia. My making methods have been carefully developed over time from my interest in all things textiles, whether it be highly embroidered Elizabethan costume or, more practically, how to convey stitch processes whilst using clay as the material. My work is made to be used but also acts as a way of exploring decorative techniques. All the work is high fired, making it very durable and a pleasure to use.”
Herdwick Limited: Tweed with Provenance. We produce high quality home furnishings, handbags and accessories which are made in Cumbria. We have the true provenance of Lake District farms which are owned by the National Trust.
Hill Top Furniture

The furniture I make will last a lifetime, becoming an heirloom which you can pass on to your children and their children. Treated well, hardwood furniture will last for generations. Having trained at the renowned Waters & Acland furniture school in the South Lakes, I find that living and working in the Lake District National Park inspires me every day.

Miles-Moore Ceramics is the South Cumbria Studio of Siobhan and Martin Miles-Moore. They both work extensively with local materials; minerals, wood ashes and sands, to bring a sense of place to their work. Much of Martin’s work explores rituals around eating and drinking and our connection to our environment through these. This can be seen in his bespoke dining ware for some of the best chefs in the country and his passion for tea bowls and bonsai planters. Siobhan creates one off indoor and outdoor sculpture that explore perspective and the importance of understanding our sense of place.
MJ Cabinetmakers believes the beauty of a piece of furniture first begins in the inspiration and design and is then followed through in the quality of the making.
