Carolyn Marr is a ceramic artist based in Brampton, Northeast Cumbria. She uses simple shapes for her unique vases, bottles and lamps, sometimes applying a cool, smooth glaze, sometimes building up complex layers with slips and oxides. In her sculptural work, Carolyn explores the interplay of form, light and shade. She aims to create pieces that arrest attention and invite handling. Carolyn is a regular exhibitor at Potfest and Craftsmen at the Priory, Lanercost, and has shown work in galleries in Cumbria, Yorkshire, Scotland, Wiltshire and the Northeast.

Emma creates a variety of art in a range of mediums. Her main focus is ceramics. The fine qualities of porcelain, enable Emma to create highly textured, detailed and refined pieces that are unlike anything seen on the high street. Using a variety of techniques and materials, including her porcelain, Emma creates contemporary wall art, that would not look out of place in either a modern or traditional home. It’s fair to say that at Garden Organic we love compost, and in our role as the UK’s national charity for organic growing we take the opportunity to share this message amongst communities around the UK. Garden Organic’s Master Composters are volunteers who spend time promoting home composting in their local community, encouraging householders to take up composting and ensuring those already composting continue to do so effectively. Master Composters come from many backgrounds and age groups; their unifying feature is their enthusiasm for encouraging more environmentally friendly waste management practices. Master Composter Programmes are funded to operate in particular geographical areas. With wildlife and environmental preservation now more sharply in focus for gardeners and growers, the company Grazers is receiving increasing interest in their product range. Unlike several other methods of repelling plant pests, these highly efficacious, clever products do not kill anything, instead taking an approach that helps the plants to help themselves. The calcium-based liquids, that also contain other natural plant extract co-formulants, work together with the photosynthesising green leaves to give a ‘plant mediated effect’, thereby dissuading garden pests from eating our precious garden plants. All the time being harmless to the pests, pets and us humans.
NEW FOR 2020 - Gneiss Rugs
Keith comes from generations of weavers and is based at Farfield Mill near Sedbergh. Gneiss Rugs are woven on a Pegloom, one of the oldest forms of weaving. They are made from selvedge from the tweed industry on the Isle of Lewis – thus from the best quality pure wool. As they are made from an upcycled by-product the rugs have important eco credentials. The rugs are soft, but very substantial and hardwearing. The striped design echoes the gneiss rock formations on the Isle of Lewis. No two rugs are the same and are thus unique.
NEW FOR 2020 - Heartwood Enterprises
We aim to make the best of each tree, log and piece of timber that we work with. Our small farm-based sawmill and woodcraft workshop has developed alongside our woodland management and tree care business. We supply locally grown, sustainably managed timber and wood products to crafts people, joiners, cabinet makers, builders and landscapers. We have on show a selection of timbers, wooden platters and chopping boards, larch cladding and woodturning blanks.
NEW FOR 2020 - Helen Grierson Glass Studio
I believe that choosing to share, support, connect, promote and raise others up is the key to a successful business. It is the relationships I make with other artists and my customers that makes me different. I will be showing examples of the glass splash backs, window and door panels that I design and make and will have a variety of smaller glass sculptures and leaded pieces for sale. I also run some very successful workshops.
Herdwick Limited has unique Lake District provenance in the production of our worsted Herdwick tweed. We buy fleece from four specific National Trust farms, our fleece is spun in Yorkshire and woven at Farfield Mill, Sedburgh. We create soft furnishings and home accessories in Cumbria celebrating the natural shades of of the wool.

It is renowned for its olive green hue, quality, longevity and density. We make a distinctive range of Garden Features which create beautifully natural centrepieces to your garden. Landscape designers often use Honister water features to replicate the rugged mountains and natural water of the Lake District.
Julia Bradbury: My bathroom is lined entirely with Honister Green Slate, creating a sophisticated luxurious feel. Subtle lighting adds to the overall experience, creating a mood of tranquillity and escape.
Serpentine Pavilion 2019: Over 61 tonnes of Honister Green Slate to create a single canopy of layered stone, appearing to emerge from the ground of the surrounding park.

NEW FOR 2020 - Hughsrigg Pottery
We’ve been making pottery together for 45years, Jacky makes sculptured items animals, figures and table lamps, making her own shades and complimentary cushions and footstools. I make hand thrown stoneware, pots for the table and kitchen as well as special pots for exhibition. My glazes are made using local clay and ash from the wood burning stove, gas fired to a high temperature, our pottery is oven and dishwasher proof and can be displayed outdoors. We also have a pottery school with weekly morning and evening sessions plus occasional all day classes.

Working from a small Cumbrian workshop, Humblewood make a range of home accessories such as clocks, lamps, vases and furniture pieces. We love the clean lines of Scandinavian and Japanese styles, and while we take many design and colour cues from the 1950’s, aka ‘Mid-century Modern’, we have worked hard to develop our own contemporary style. Humblewood’s items are intended to be useful, practical items, with a strong personality – while being a little bit fun too!

I am a local retail business with a shop in Appleby, which I opened coming up for five years ago. I would describe my self as an interiors, soft furnishings, gifts and ladies accessories shop. I would like the show to up my profile locally, I would be looking to sell on my stand interior products such as lamps, throws cushions, mirrors clocks, while also promoting my made to measure curtains, blinds and upholstery section.
NEW FOR 2020 - Jane Charles Studio Glass
Freeblown decorative studio glass vessels made using the traditional methods of hot glass. I am working with the old fashioned lead glass crystal which gives the work a lovely sparkle and weight to it. I produce a wide range of shapes and sizes in an array of bright colours and finishes to include paper weights, perfume bottles, bowls, vases and sculptural forms. Each piece is signed and totally unique with its own little character and personality.

NEW FOR 2020 - KAH Ceramics
Handmade ceramic home and garden ware inspired by nature. I make unique pieces such as green men using pressed leaves that are carefully sculpted onto the clay face. I also use ferns to impress into clay to create natural yet bold patterns which embellish ceramic bottles, flower pockets and bowls to name a few. I also use the ancient tradition of raku firing using horse hair and feathers to create stunning decorative pieces for the home.
Jo Vincent Glass Designers
Jo Vincent is a glass designer and maker creating bespoke architectural glass and interior accessories, mainly to commission. Her projects can often be ambitious in scale and have included chandeliers, lighting, windows, doors, splash backs, awards and wall panels for private and commercial clients. Jo develops her own personal work alongside this which she exhibits nationally.
This body of work focuses on her engagement with the Cumbrian landscape, permanent geological formations above and under the ground as well as temporary shifts in the landscape caused by seasons, tides and weather. She uses a variety of kiln formed glass techniques to achieve this work. Many of these pieces can spend many days in the kiln due to their irregular thickness and textures created in the glass. Jo Vincent set up her first studio in Cumbria in August 2000 having studied and worked for a number of years in Leeds, Italy and London. I have a rather long association clay and have been earning my living with it for nearly 30 years, most of which has been good fun. For the last 10 years I have been producing mainly horses and hares,hand built in stoneware and fired very slowly to 1260c. Recently I plonked a gas kiln in the veggie patch and am also now working on a range of very textured vessels designed for plant and flower lovers.. a new side shoot but very liberating.

All my pieces are made using traditional cabinet makers skills, finished to a very high standard that will last a lifetime.

We make luxury scented candles inspired by the Lake District and Cumbria. We take our inspiration from the beautiful Cumbrian landscape and try to incorporate the unique qualities of each location into our scents.
All of our candles are hand made from natural soy wax with a pure cotton wick and using the highest quality fragrance oils. Our scents are expertly blended to capture the essence of each location.
We are Jo and James, a husband and wife team who love making candles. Having spent more than a decade living overseas in Hong Kong and Iceland, we decided to return to the UK. Whilst the fast pace and excitement of living in Hong Kong was incredible, we never had the time to indulge in creative endeavours. After a much needed year in Iceland with our 2 dogs we returned to England established a business where we could create and make products that we were passionate about. This is how Lakeland Lights Company was born!

Family run Stone Mason business based in Penrith, covering all aspects of stonework in and around Cumbria. NEW FOR 2020 - Liz Jones Studio
I am a printmaker based in North Cumbria. I produce original handprinted linocuts using the reduction method. I also use the lino to create fabric designs which I handprint onto linen and cotton to make lampshades, cushions, bags and tea towels. All of my fabric is handprinted in colours I mix myself which enables me to take on commissions to match customers colour and size requirements.
NEW FOR 2020 - Lowther Castle & Gardens
Lowther Castle & Gardens is one of the most exciting and original visitor attractions in the North West. This is thanks largely to its wonderfully varied and unusual gardens which speak of centuries of development and span woodland, borders and the ruins of the castle itself. Dan Pearson – the landscape gardener of the moment – has been involved with Lowther since 2012 and his new layers of design are gaining international recognition. 2020 will see the launch of Pearson’s Rose Garden – which is based on the profile of a briar rose and inspired by a William Morris poem.
Plants, seeds, gardening books, gardening accessories, a new range of Head Gardener endorsed tools along with produce from the garden – Lowther Honey and Lowther Apple Juice – will be on sale. Visitors will also be invited to look at the 2012 Garden Masterplan.

North Cumbria Rock Garden Group
We are a group of alpine garden enthusiasts centred on Penrith. We meet once a month during the winter months to hear talks by experts, sometimes about travel to remote mountainous regions, sometimes with more botanical detail about the cultivation of alpine plants. We hold a small local show each year this year on March`21, and arrange visits to interesting gardens both locally and further afield. We are affiliated to the Scottish Rock Garden Club but welcome members from other organisations and interests. We will have some alpine plants to sell and information about growing them.

Roxanne Denny of RD Glass designs and makes each piece by hand with a focus on quality and attention to detail.
