Green Conference Package

At Rheged, we recognise and share the environmental aspirations of many of our customers, and as a result we are pleased to be able to offer you our Green Conference Package.

Environmental responsibility is at the heart of our ethos. Rheged has been specially designed to resemble a Lakeland hill. Constructed on the site of a disused quarry, the natural hollow ensures that Rheged, which is the largest grass covered building in Europe, blends naturally into the surrounding landscape.

As part of our Green Conference Package we can offer:

• Full electronic, paper free organisation of conferences
• Locally sourced food from our own farm only 18 miles away, thus reducing food miles for catering
• Arrival by public transport to minimise delegate carbon emissions. We are only two miles from Penrith Station on the main London Euston - Glasgow Central West Coast Line. The link bus stops directly at Rheged's front door
• Printed media locally sourced to minimise carbon emissions of deliveries
• Drinking water supplied in jugs rather than bottles, so as to minimise wastage of both water and glass
• Four of our conference areas are adequately lit by daylight, reducing carbon emissions from electric lighting
